NSBN LLP Staffers Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity
August 24, 2009
Los Angeles, California, August 24, 2009 NSBN LLP (www.nsbn.com) Certified Public Accountants and Business Consultants announced that NSBN employees spent Saturday, August 15th working on a build day with Habitat for Humanity. Work included framing, siding, insulating, dry walling, roofing, and painting; construction professionals were on hand to supervise the work. "We are proud of our NSBN Gives Back program, where we work as a team to roll up our sleeves and make a real difference," says Ken Miles, CPA, Managing Partner.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. Habitat for Humanity provides a hand-up, not a hand-out. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, partner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor - called sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
